“Miss Jackie is far and away the best teacher and mentor I’ve ever been lucky enough to have in any discipline in life. I’ve grown exponentially as a dancer and as a human being through her classes. She goes above and beyond what is expected of a dance teacher and has become one of the most important role models in my life not only for dance, but for self love and growth as well. Miss Jackie makes me excited to go to dance each week and I know that her classes are a safe space where I can move freely and truly dance like nobody is watching. She comes up with the most amazing and unique exercises that have pulled me out of my shell as a dancer. Watching videos of myself dancing before and after being in Miss Jackie’s classes makes it impossible to miss the shift in my presence. I now know my power as a dancer and take up space with every move I make on stage. Miss Jackie’s teaching has gotten me to realize that I deserve to take up space and make myself known in the studio, on stage, and in life. “Over the course of the past few years while having Miss Jackie as a dance teacher I have learned so much and have grown as a dancer. I fully believe that where I am now would not have been possible without the knowledge and support given by Miss Jackie. She is a wonderful teacher and constantly is doing her best to help us grow as dancers and people. She pushes me to do the best I can do without pushing past a breaking point. I feel that Miss Jackie really does give her best effort into what she does as a dance teacher. It is obvious that she loves dance and wants to be able to share the love of dance with others. She gives us the resources needed to become dancers that can do their best and be proud of their best whether other people are or not. She knows that not everyone is perfect and that everyone has off days. Not only does Miss Jackie teach dance but she also tells us how while being dancers we need to take care of ourselves and our bodies, she is constantly telling us that we need to eat or hydrate to stay healthy while dancing. I think sometimes this is overlooked by some people and they do not notice that dancers need to still rest for their physical or mental health, while Miss Jackie is a very big advocate for making sure we are staying healthy while dancing long hours. Overall I value having Miss Jackie as a dance teacher because she has taught me so much not only just about dance but things that will help me in general life and things that will stick with me long after having Miss Jackie as a dance teacher. ”
